The Yamashina canal was completed about 120 years ago. Part of the system for bringing water from Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, to the city of Kyoto. And the citizens of Kyoto are still reaping the benefits of this canal, which brings most of the water which we use in our daily lives in Kyoto. Thank you, canal!
